In 1939 Robert and Helen Clark opened Clark's Glass in Lafayette, IN. But shortly after the beginning of WWII, and with Robert in the service, Helen was forced to close the business due to an employee shortages. After Robert's return from military service in 1942, they purchased another glass company, renaming it Lafayette Glass Company. The grand opening was set for September of 1946.
Dennis Clark, present owner and president of the company, grew up working within the family business, and learning from his parents. In 1967, Robert Clark passed away from a heart attack, and Dennis Clark took over the business. In 1972, with the help from his brother Ed Clark, they purchased the business from Helen Clark.
Dennis, as one of the senior members in the glass industry, he has served on countless committees and boards. He served as Vice President of the National Glass Association, and was the first President of the Indiana Glass Association in 1986. In 2004, Dennis Clark was inducted into the Glass and Metal Hall of fame.
