Founded in 1939 by Robert and Helen Clark as Clark’s Glass in Lafayette, IN, our company’s journey began with a deep commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. During WWII, when Robert Clark enlisted, Helen was forced to temporarily close the business due to employee shortages. After Robert’s return in 1942, they purchased another glass company and renamed it Lafayette Glass Company, celebrating the grand reopening in September 1946.
Dennis Clark, the current owner’s father, grew up working in the family business. After Robert's passing in 1967, Dennis took over, and in 1972, with the support of his brother Ed Clark, they purchased the company from Helen. Dennis became a prominent figure in the glass industry, serving on multiple committees and boards, including as Vice President of the National Glass Association and as the first President of the Indiana Glass Association in 1986. In 2004, Dennis was inducted into the prestigious Glass and Metal Hall of Fame for his invaluable contributions.
In 1994, Robert (Chris) Clark, Dennis’ son, joined Lafayette Glass Company and began working in every aspect of the business, learning from the ground up. Over the years, Chris honed his skills and became an integral part of the company’s operations, ensuring that Lafayette Glass maintained its reputation for excellence. After Dennis passed away in 2020, Chris assumed leadership of the business. In 2022, he officially became the owner, continuing the family’s tradition of providing exceptional service.
